Superman vs. Wonder Woman The Wage War for Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot

This is a branch article for the salary dispute people discussed between Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot. For the full net worth articles, see Henry Cavill Net Worth and Gal Gadot Net Worth.

On June 19, 2017, a heated debate swarmed the internet. Elle Magazine published an article stating "Gal Gadot reportedly earned $300,000 for Wonder Woman, while Henry Cavill, as Superman, earned $14 million for Man of Steel." (There's a little update in that article already.)

As soon as the report was spotted by prominent reporters and other people, the wage war caught on. Not that people were trying to undermine one's capability, this issue brought in the discussion of the wage-gap between men and women in Hollywood.

They made a case of the existence of the gender wage gap in Hollywood, the success of Gadot's movie being the prime example. It would've fine, except the salary mentioned were, kind of, inaccurate. Yes, the pay-gap exists, but this comparison wasn't as it was supposed to be made. But there are cases of course. Hacked Sony emails revealed the difference with the case of Jennifer Lawrence getting paid less than her male counterparts in American Hustle.

It may have still lingered on, but when learning of the facts, there is kind of a sense into those figures. For Gal Gadot, $300,000 was her base salary as Wonder Woman. She'd already signed a deal for the same salary figure on the three movies in the franchise, Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman and Justice League.

Meanwhile, Cavill's $14 million earning for Man of Steel was accounted to be his base salary plus the bonuses, merchandise sales and all the other ways an actor can grind extra cash from movies (back-end profits and endorsement incomes, that is). Telegraph thus released a short piece about Cavill earning around the payout Gadot received for his star role, if not, only a little more.

The wage-war died out after a short while when people brought out the facts into account. It was spreading misinformation, and some people attempted to mend their mistakes. And there's no proof or released papers that reveal the amount either of them got for their roles. But one thing was sure, the two did quite well for their roles. And Cavill did get around the amount the Israeli did.
